Chapter 3: Jokesters Unite

"The Pranksters and Jokesters challenge has begun!  Step right on up and pick your poi- er tea!  Dark or light tea, which will it be?!" A voice boomed over the loudspeakers as they were arriving.
"Ooh I say we pick the light tea and join the Jokesters together." Venessa beamed
Nodding, Leeland said, "Okay, sounds good."
And they headed to the light tea fountain to fill up a glass.

"On your mark, get set...glow!  Get it....glow?!" Venessa laughed clinking glasses with Leeland.
"Here goes nothing." Said Leeland as he downed his glass in one long gulp.
"Oh. My. God!  The rumors are true!  Leeland, we're glowing!!  How cool is this!?  Quick lets take a pic...this is definitely Simstagram worthy!"

"Oooh and they have an open mic!" Squealed Venessa, as she made a bee line for the makeshift stage.
*Venessa Clears Her Throat*
"How do you get a baby alien to sleep?!
*Pause*
"You Rocket!"
Leeland snickered, "That's actually pretty funny Vanessa! Point 1 for the Jokesters!  Have any more?!"
"What kind of tree grows in your hand?"
*Pause*
"A Palm Tree!"
Before long, there was a small crowd gathered around the makeshift stage watching Venessa perform.

*Voice Over The Loudspeaker*
"Attention Festival Goers, the results are in for the Pranksters and Jokesters challenge, and the winners are....  The Jokesters!  Make sure you stop by the light tea table and pick up your prizes!  Thank you all for coming and have a great night!  The festival will be closed in one hour, so finish up with those last minute purchases and enjoy the fireworks display!"

"Venessa, you were definitely the star of the show! Leeland said giving her a high five.
"Hee Hee, it was fun!  Thanks for coming with me tonight!  Let's go get our prizes, I wonder what they are!?"

The festival coordinator handed each of them a new Comedy Mic to practice their stand up routines, a stack of assorted fireworks and a $500 Simoleon cash prize!
"Congratulations on your well deserved win tonight!  Thanks for joining in on all the fun!  We'll see you next time!

Clutching their loot, with smiles plastered on their faces, they looked up and against the San Myshuno skyscrapers, watched the fancy fireworks display signaling the end of the Humor and Hijinks Festival.

----------

Back at home, Leeland sifted through all the pictures he'd taken at the festival, chose some to add to his Simstagram story and selected a few to be printed and hung up later.  There really hadn't been a lot of time to actually celebrate St. Patty's Day, but the Humor and Hijinks Festival fun with Venessa had surpassed any expectations he might have had.  Tonight had been a whole lot of fun, and having a pretty girl to share it with had made it even better!  He drifted off to sleep after midnight, catching as many zzz's as he could before the morning get ready for work rush.

Morning came all too soon, and poor Leeland woke up with just two minutes before he was supposed to leave for work!  There would be no time to pack a lunch for later or anything!  He barely had time to change his clothes, brush his teeth, and run a quick hand through his hair before he was racing out the front door!

----------

It was another grueling day of work.  In the morning, one of the new line cooks, Amanda, bumped against Leeland as he was putting a stock pot back on the top shelf.  Startled, she flicked the spatula she'd been holding, upending it from the safety of the pan and Leeland was splattered from head to toe in bright red vegetarian spaghetti sauce!  Amanda felt so bad, that when Leeland's lunch break came around, she made a fresh plate of spaghetti just for him, on the house!  The good news was, he wouldn't have to worry about not having packed a sack lunch, but he was definitely ready for a bath as soon as he walked in the door at home.

After his much needed bath, Leeland mixed up a batch of chocolate chunk brownies and popped them in the oven.  As the smell of rich and ooey gooey chocolate permeated the air, he sat down to watch some television while the brownies finished baking.  In just fifteen minutes the timer went off and Leeland retrieved the very flat and sadly, unappealing brownies from the oven.  Leeland cut himself a small corner piece and bit into it....  Nope, definitely not the best brownies he'd ever had, but not wanting to waste them, he cut another piece, took it into the living room, and went back to his television program.
